Dear Friend:
It's hard keeping up with the pace of the news these days, isn't it? And it's not a lot of fun.
Every morning when I wake up, there is a new horror.
Like you, I'm thoroughly disgusted with Bush, especially for his reckless war, which he seems intent on escalating, even as he stalls for time. Here's my take: "Bush Dawdles for a Reason."
I also wrote something on the death of the Chilean dictator, "Pinochet Descends," where I discuss the lack of accountability here in the U.S. for Pinochet's crimes, as well as the continued fascination, in some quarters, for a new dictator--this time in Iraq.
On a more uplifting note, Amitabh Pal salutes two of this year's Nobel-Prize winners. "Muhammad Yunus and Orham Panuk are beacons of inspiration," he says.
I hope you find inspiration there, as well.
Sincerely,
Matthew RothschildEditor, The Progressive
