Dear Friend:
When I watched the news Monday night and I saw the clips of Bush's speeches in Georgia and Texas, I grew angrier and angrier. He was intentionally, blatantly mischaracterizing the views of his opponents to make them appear soft on terrorism.
So I wrote up a web exclusive piece on this, which I'd like to share with you. It's called "Bush Stoops on the Stump."
In a more hopeful vein, Political Editor Ruth Conniff writes that we might be at "The End of the Rove"—that the divisive, slanderous ads that he is notorious for may not prevail this time around, and as a result, politicians may shy away from them next time.
It would be great if she's right.
Thanks for considering this week's offerings.
All best,
Matthew RothschildEditor, The Progressive
