Dear Friend:
October 17 was a sad day for our democracy. It was the day George Bush signed the Military Commissions Act, one of the worst, most repressive pieces of legislation ever to pass Congress. The statement Bush made at the signing ceremony was also appalling. I analyzed it in a commentary we posted while the ink from Bush’s pen was still wet. You can read it here: “Bush Betrays Democracy and Truth in Signing Military Commissions Act.”
I’ve also posted a couple of McCarthyism Watch items that might interest you.
And we have radio interviews with Howard Zinn and Ani DiFranco fresh on our website, www.progressive.org.
I hope you find this material useful.
All best,
Matthew RothschildEditor, The Progressive
