Dear Friend:
I was delighted, as I'm sure you were too, about the verdict on Scooter Libby Tuesday. Plus, Cheney's fingerprints were all over Libby's crimes. Some people are giddily concluding that Cheney will resign. Don't count on it. In my latest web posting, I conclude he won't resign for two reasons: He's a power monger and an ideologue.
I'd like to also draw your attention to Ruth Conniff's piece on the scandal over at Walter Reed. As she notes, "Nowhere is the hypocrisy of the flag-waving chickenhawks in the White House more glaring than in the treatment of America's veterans."
Finally, as I read about Iran arresting women protesting for their rights on Sunday, I wrote about the need for us not to go easy on Ahmedinejad. The guy's a rightwing creep. And we shouldn't hesitate to say so.
I hope you find these postings interesting.
Peace,

P.S. I've been overwhelmed by the response to the tragic death of Molly Ivins. We're going to keep fighting for what she stood for: free speech, people power over corporate power, an end to the Iraq War, and constant laughter. Many readers have been making tax-deductible contributions to The Progressive in Molly's memory. If you'd like to do so, we'd really appreciate it. Just click here. And if you haven't seen my salute to Molly, along with many of her most dazzling quotes, see "Molly Ivins, In Memoriam." Thanks.
