People keep wondering when the Republican craziness is going to end.
Well, I think I got the answer.
It'll end when the rich people who run the Republican Party tell the tea party folks to take a hike.
And that may come soon.
Already, the Dow Jones is down 4.7 percent and the S&P is down 3 percent from their record highs just a few weeks ago, before Ted Cruz and Michele Bachmann started all this nonsense.
If the stock market goes down by another 5 percent or so, you can bet that John Boehner will be getting so many calls his ears will hurt.
Because it's the rich who own the lion's share of the nation's stocks. And the richer you are, the more stocks you own. The top 1 percent owns 35 percent of the nation's stocks.
They were made whole after the Great Recession, since the market totally recouped its losses, whereas most Americans still haven't come close to recovering from the devaluation or foreclosing on their homes, or the loss of their jobs.
Now the top 1 percent doesn't like losing money. As Will Durst likes to say, that's why they're in the top 1 percent.
And they also happen to be the same people who fund political campaigns.
They can't be happy right now, and soon they will make their unhappiness felt.
