Dave Lawson, a Republican state senator in Delaware, walked out of the chamber to protest an opening prayer from the Koran. He claimed the Muslim holy book, written in the seventh century, called for the killing of Americans: “I fought for this country not to be damned by someone that comes in here and prays to their god for our demise. I think that’s despicable.”
