Our government appears to believe that its main constituents are multinational corporations and their local partners, the developers, and not the citizens of Turkey.
Ethem Sarisuluk was shot in head by the police. This murder -- for that is what it is -- may be seen as it happened on YouTube:
Ethem's family wanted to take the funeral procession to the spot where he was shot. Police did not let this happen. In fact, they continued to use violence towards people who walked for Ethem in his funeral procession.
The police officer who shot Ethem was finally identified but has now been released, with the justification that the police were actually defending and protecting themselves from the protesters!
This is not a scary movie; this is unforgettable, horrific reality in Turkey in the twenty-first century.
Government officials still claim that these protests are supported by foreign groups or domestic agents. They continue to blame everyone but themselves and their supporters.
They must know that there will be no escape from legal investigations once they lose their power.
We will not forget these days.
