The Progressive Magazine is pleased to announce our new Associate Editor Alexandra Tempus.
“Allie brings tremendous skills that will help us connect with a new generation of progressive readers, writers, and activists, and a knowledge and passion for progressive politics that makes her a terrific fit for the magazine,” said Editor-in-chief Ruth Conniff.
Tempus started out as a teen reporter for her hometown newspaper in northern Wisconsin.
Since then she has covered state politics for the Associated Press in Minnesota and served as a lead researcher on Naomi Klein's 2014 bestseller This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs the Climate.
Most recently she worked as a researcher and writer at The Nation, The Intercept, BuzzFeed, and Rolling Stone, where she worked closely on major reports with Matt Taibbi, Tim Dickinson, and other national political reporters.
In 2016 Tempus was named CultureStrike's Climate and Environmental Justice Literary Fellow, producing work on climate change and its effects on the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin.
“Coming to The Progressive feels like coming home,” said Tempus.
“We are thrilled to welcome Allie to our staff,” said publisher Norman Stockwell, “Allie will join our talented team of editors and writers on both the website and the magazine in this important time.”
