This isn't necessarily a list of the best blogs or the most popular blogs. (We reserve the right to cover those later.) It's just a compilation of blogs that are worth bookmarking that you may not know about.
Found Magazine
You may have heard of the magazine. It simply features "love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework, to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles - anything that gives a glimpse into someone else's life" sent in by its readers. Their site features a fresh design and new item every day.
Pam's House Blend
This may not count as a "blog you might not have heard of" considering that it was was voted the best LBGT blog last year, but blogger Pam Spaulding's take on things is distinctly conversational. It's everything a blog should be - personal, informative, and amusing.
Will Wheaton
Will Wheaton played Wesley on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Which makes him every bit as qualified to comment on culture and politics as Michelle Malkin or the Wall Street Journal rejects at Townhall.com. Throw in some brain cells, the fact that he doesn't take himself very seriously, and his willingness to squeeze into a cheesy jumpsuit and he's light years ahead of them.
"I'm thirty years old. Although I don't always take myself seriously (if I did, I would be in an urn next to River Phoenix by now . . . those people who are the real life inspiration for The Comic Book Guy have been giving me shit for decades), I am politically active and aware. I passionately believe in progressive causes, freedom from religion and government intrusion, and the right to privacy -- on line and in your home. If you've come here looking for a washed-up, former child actor, I guess you could find that. But if you're willing to look beyond the surface, and challenge your preconceptions, you will get to know me for who I am now: a very happy husband, step-father, and writer."
Lifehacker
This one has next to nothing to do with politics. Lifehacker suggests websites, software, and tips to make your time at the keyboard more productive. Can spending time here help you regain some of that time you wasted reading political blogs? Well, it's nice to think so.
ConnecticutBlog
Yes, this well-written blog mainly focuses on Connecticut politics but regularly touches on national politics. And the primary battle between Sen. Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont is shaping up to be one of the most interesting national debates we've seen in a long time.
Oval Office 2008
After the opening days of the NCAA Final Four, the Presidential primaries and convention are my favorite sporting events. This non-partisan blog keeps political junkies abreast of the latest on the 2008 races. (And there's a lot more going on now than you might think.)
Gizmodo
Gizmodo describes itself as "the gadgets weblog."
AdRants
As someone who hates commercials and tries to avoid them, it's difficult to see how a blog about bad advetising can be so appealing. But it is.
TV Newser
This blog documents the race between the network and cable news networks. Particularly interesting are the Nielsen ratings. (Sure, FOXNews beats out the other cable news networks, but I find comfort in the fact that its ratings are way behind the Cartoon Network.)
