See that big, ugly, infected toe there on the left?
That toe, and all the awful things that come with fungal growth under one's lower digits, are now more popular than the U.S. Congress, according to a survey released Tuesday.
The data comes from the Democrat-affiliated Public Policy Polling (PPP), which asked 502 Americans their opinions on various unsavory things, like hipsters and zombies and the DMV.
What they found is startling: Not only does Congress lose out to infected toes, they're somehow even less popular than cockroaches, hemorrhoids and the Internal Revenue Service.
(Oddly enough, Republicans were the only group that picked Congress over hemorrhoids -- and who knows what that means.)
A full 85 percent of Americans told the survey group that they disapprove of the job Congress is doing, proving there is at least something that unites Republicans and Democrats. Just 8 percent of the country thinks Congress is doing a good job, PPP added.
"Congress having an 8% approval rating tells us one thing about how unhappy voters are," Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling, said in an advisory. "But it's even more telling that voters have a lower opinion of it than annoyances like the DMV and jury duty, health issues like hemorrhoids, and even witches."
Still, there were also a few other things that Americans like even less: specifically, Miley Cyrus and her horrifying dance style known as "twerking," Honey Boo Boo, Vladimir Putin and Charles Manson.
So, at least they've got that.
And, after the licking (no pun intended) he took by Miley Cyrus on last weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live," maybe these results will be a passing comfort to House Speaker John Boehner, twerks and all.
