Dear friend:
The pundits in Washington were begging Bush to replace Andrew Card as chief of staff. And Bush finally did so. But as I try to point out in “Andrew Card’s Resignation Means Nothing,” the problem with Bush isn’t his chief of staff. The problem with Bush is Bush—and Cheney.
And here’s one you won’t believe: A nurse in Georgia was given a $100 ticket for having a bumpersticker that reads: “I’m Tired of all the BUSHIT.” Check it out!
Finally, I’d like to draw your attention to Ruth Conniff’s “Stop Feeding the Work Monster,” her personal rumination on the tyranny of work, and the tyranny of status.
As always, I appreciate your feedback.
Sincerely,
Matthew RothschildEditor
P.S. I'm giving a talk on impeachment April 7 at the University of Illinois in Urbana. If you're in the area, I'd love to see you there.
And if you know anyone who could make it, please invite them.
It's at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, at 319 Gregory Hall, which is at 810 S. Wright St.
Afterwards, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a reception and fundraiser for The Progressive at the home of Robert McChesney and Inger Stole at 1103 S. Douglas (which is on the west side of Carle Park between Iowa and Indiana streets).
It all should be fun!
