If there is any American narrative that has done more damage to America itself, it is the founding myth being celebrated today in parades and barbecues. Christopher Columbus didn't discover America any more than George W. Bush liberated Iraq. There were millions of people already here -- Cherokee, Aztec, Inca, and every other nation across the hemisphere. What should have been a bridge between two worlds instead became a genocide. Now the survivors of the European invasion are making their own discoveries -- rediscovering their own languages and proud traditions. What makes a "good Indian?"
