Nobody with brains...
You have to hand it to the wingnuts. They stick to their ridiculous theories. A member of the Senate Intelligence Committee should know better.
On Saturday, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) revived the Saddam/Al-Qaida myth:
"And, more importantly, we've stopped a mass murderer in Saddam Hussein. Nobody denies that he was supporting al-Qaida. Well, I shouldn't say nobody. Nobody with brains."
Sen. Hatch backpeddled on Tuesday:
"Saddam clearly had a long history of supporting terrorists, but I was not talking about any formal link between Saddam and al-Qaida before the war. Instead, I pointed out that the current insurgency in Iraq includes al-Qaida, under the leadership of al-Zarqawi, along with former elements of Saddam's regime."

"The notion that he was a close friend who wielded influence over me is untrue."
Rep. Tom Delay on Jack Abramoff in a February 6, 2006 letter to his constituents.
"When one of my closest and dearest friends, Jack Abramoff, your most able representative in Washington, D.C., invited me to the islands, I wanted to see firsthand the free-market success and the progress and reform you have made.."

Family names children for presidents. "The Schepplers' children all have presidential names. There's Tyler, Grant, McKinley, Kennedy, Harrison, Madison and Regan — although Regan's name is spelled differently than Ronald Reagan and wasn't intended as a reference to the 40th president... Regina Scheppler said her great aunt didn't admire President Reagan. 'She wouldn't call my daughter by anything but her middle name, and was very adamant about that,' she said." Source: ap.com
Woodward: Cheney has his sights on '08. For the sake of the Republic, let's hope his aim doesn't improve. "Even as he scolded the media's tendency to prophesy the future, Woodward offered his prediction for the 2008 Presidential race. By all indications, he said, Democrat Hillary Clinton is running. He noted that Republicans have a long track record of nominating 'old war horses.' Given that, and depending on how things in Iraq proceed, "You're going to think I'm crazy, but you heard it here first. I think they could nominate Dick Cheney."Source: mysantonio.com
Katie: Will she stay or will she go... to CBS? "If Katie Couric takes Dan Rather’s old job on the CBS Evening News, it will cost her big time — $7 million a year. Right now, Katie makes around $13 million a year co-hosting the Today show with Matt Lauer. I’m told that NBC wants her to stay put so badly they will offer her $20 million a year, a $7 million hike, to spurn CBS’s advances. And here’s the rub: according to my sources, CBS will probably not offer Katie much more than she’s getting now." Source: fox411.com
Brady group sends blaze orange "Innocent Bystander" tees to White House. "It was not until yesterday -- a safe five days after the victim left the hospital -- that the campaign sent the tees off to press secretary Scott McClellan. So, better late than tacky? 'I'm not sure this story has returned to being funny, but we think it ought to be discussed again,' said Brady spokesman Peter Hamm . 'The message of gun safety was lost in this story.' The little state that could... impeach Bush. From blogger Boo Man: "It is possible for a state or territory of the United States to initiate impeachment proceedings against judges or against the President of the United States. You can read about how it works and the precedents here. In Rhode Island, a candidate for U.S. Senate named Carl Sheeler is trying to convince the Rhode Island legislature to initiate impeachment proceedings against George W. Bush. It's kind of amusing, he has even bought a huge 'Impeach Bush' billboard right on Interstate 95. Rhode Island is probably the only state with the right combination of Democratic power and anti-Bush sentiment to actually pull off such a stunt. Nevertheless, I doubt Sheeler will be able to convince the legislature to do it. And I am sure the governor would veto it unless they could obtain a super majority. But, it's fun to think about." Chicago to GOP: No thanks. "The Republican National Committee said yesterday that Chicago and 30 other cities were selected to submit bids explaining why they'd be a good choice to host the 2008 convention. But a spokeswoman for Mayor Richard Daley says City Hall isn't interested. Jackie Heard says city officials are more focused on whether to pursue a campaign to host the 2016 Summer Olympics." The end of an era: Waffle House to accept plastic. "By the end of March, Visa and Mastercard will be accepted in all of Waffle House's 713 company-owned restaurants in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas. 'Cash-only' signs will disappear from the distinctly down-home, blue-collar eateries famous for offering inexpensive eggs, grits and hash browns 'smothered and covered' in cheese and onions. 'For the longest, we've been cash based, looking out for the "poor ol' cash customer," but customers expressed interest in use of credit cards,' said Charnae Knight, a spokeswoman for Waffle House, which is based in Norcross, Ga."
