Board of Directors
- James Friedman is the president of The Progressive’s Board of Directors. He is a shareholder on Godfrey & Kahn’s litigation team, focusing on commercial, First Amendment, and insurance litigation. He is proud to serve on the Board of this 100+ year-old Wisconsin institution that continues to provide a unique and critical voice for progressive politics in Wisconsin and throughout the United States, and has served on the board for more than twenty years.
- William White is the vice president of the Board of Directors. He is a real estate lawyer at Husch Blackwell’s Madison office. He has experience in land use and zoning law litigation and a former long-time partner of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.
- Michael W. Apple is an at-large member of the Board of Directors. He is a John Bascom Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has worked with progressive groups throughout the world to build critically democratic educational research, policies, and practice.
- Max Lenz is an at-large member of the Board of Directors. He is an attorney on Godfrey & Kahn’s litigation team. His practice focuses on First Amendment and eminent domain litigation, open government advocacy, and renewable energy development. Max shares The Progressive’s commitment to amplifying marginalized perspectives and is proud to serve this iconic Wisconsin institution.
- Miriam Goldberg is an at-large member of the Board of Directors. She is an executive strategy advisor at DNV GL.
- Susan Collins is an at-large member of the Board of Directors. She is an adjunct instructor at University of Wisconsin Law School.
