This was not a case of Republicans versus Democrats. This was the right-wing fringe versus everybody else.
The rancor in Wisconsin, the bombing of the clinic in Appleton, and the non-response by Romney and Walker shows a disturbing willingness by Republican leaders to tacitly nod to some of the darkest forces in the American electorate.
Rick Santorum showed up with his Etch A Sketch to slam Mitt Romney and Cong. Paul Ryan talked about ending Americans' culture of dependency on the federal government.
He mocked those who believe in “manmade global warming.” Said Santorum: “This isn’t climate science. This is political science.”
"I am the only one who has not bowed, and will never bow, to this liberal orthodoxy."
Unlike JFK, Santorum actually wants to impose the Catholic Church’s doctrine upon the rest of us as it relates to abortion, contraception, homosexuality, and sexual pleasure.
Why Rick Santorum is wrong about “Man” and “Earth.” (From an upcoming issue of The Progressive.)
He calls Santorum “a fake” and gets him to concede that he voted against his principles. Meanwhile, Gingrich had the most outrageous lines.
Rick Santorum’s recent electoral victories aren’t welcome news in most of Latin America. Nor is the increasingly hostile rhetoric coming out of Republicans in Congress.
