If they hurt Trump, mail-in ballots are fraudulent.

Welcome to our next stop on the road to autocracy, the part where the autocrat-to-be tries to use the levers of bureaucracy to maintain his power.

President Trump has of course been railing against mail-in voting for months—nearly seventy times by the Washington Post’s count. Trump has been doing everything he can to vilify voting by mail and raising the specter of widespread voter fraud. Of course, voting by mail is no big deal and Trump is just trying to lay the groundwork for challenging the results if he doesn’t like them. (If he cried foul when he won in 2016, just wait to see what happens if he loses in 2020!)

Our Autocrat-in-Waiting is doing much more than just stoking fears of mail-in ballots, he’s actively meddling in the U.S. Postal Service, where his newly-appointed Postmaster General appears to be doing everything he can to slow down service. If mail-in ballots aren’t a problem, the Trumpists seem ready to make them a problem.

But there’s one thing Trump forgot. In some parts of the country, mail-in ballots help Republicans—which explains why Trump finally allowed that in Florida, voting by mail is just fine. In other words, if it helps him, mail-in ballots are fine. If it hurts him, mail-in ballots are fraudulent.

2024 Election

Passing the Muslim travel ban did not matter. Accepting election interference from a foreign adversary did not matter. Presiding over the longest government shutdown in history did not matter. Asking a foreign president to investigate a political rival in exchange for military aid did not matter. Publicly contradicting the advice of his senior medical advisors during the worst pandemic in US history did not matter. Threatening to declare martial law and send active duty troops to American cities to combat mainly peaceful protestors did not matter. Holding a national convention for a political party at the White House did not matter. Those actions could all be overlooked. Failing to concede an election he lost and challenging the result in court without evidence cannot be overlooked. January 6th was the dramatic climactic showdown from this effort to overturn a free and fair election. The day itself was not the problem. President Trump’s speech in the early morning hours of November 4, 2020 and his decision not to concede and cry fraud without any evidence is what should disturb Americans more than the violent storming of the US Capitol.

In America if there are policies and actions we don’t care for implemented by a presidential administration we have the power to vote a corrupt president out of office. The problem is the system only works if the candidate who loses an election accepts their loss and moves aside for the good of the country. Now perhaps former President Trump is a great guy. Perhaps he has an amazing sense of humor. Perhaps he is a superb entertainer. If so those qualities cannot save his job if he lost an election. He does not have the right to say the election was rigged against him with no proof. He does not have the right to insist there was fraud when zero evidence was ever presented in a court of law. Democracy only works when both sides recognize the rules of the game.

Every Republican running for President with the exception of Trump can be trusted to graciously concede if they were to lose the election. If we don’t have this basic assurance we will lose our democracy. Current policies you disagree with are inconsequential. If you want a Republican who will accept electoral results and will recognize those results-whether favorable or not-literally any other candidate is a better choice than Trump.

You might not like President Biden. You might disagree with the Biden Administration’s policies. You might be a libertarian. You might be a fiscal conservative. You might sympathize with the MAGA movement. If you want to defeat President Biden nominate someone who understands someone else deserves a chance after they serve.

I despise the horrible ads being put out in AL against Ron DeSantis. They are lies and going against someone who hasn’t even declared they’re running. This is wrong . That money could be spent fighting Democrats
